Accomplishments of the past week:
*Started experimenting to convert my +5 Brownies recipe to be gluten and dairy free, though I used so called 'raw' sugar so they're not full paleo. Tried two half batches, one with homemade almond butter instead of flour, the other with Costco's almond butter. I'll stick with homemade from now on, the store brand was waaay too oily. Its extremely disconcerting when the brownies are clearly still wet, but the toothpick comes out clean. It is also amazing how quickly my brownies come together when I don't have to sift the flour. I was always happy to have the +5 Brownies sit in the middle ground between cake and fudge textures, this one is definitely more fudgey. Not sure if I care this time. May also try with almond flour (tho I've heard bad things about it, but stare at the internet long enough and all food turns out to be evil). Either way, I will not stop until I have +10 Brownies.
*Cooked this weeks lunchables, and some of next weeks, b/c I underestimated the amount of veggies I needed for two weeks worth of lunches. Meh, will probably boil some things next Monday and be fine. The beef stew is frozen for next week, for this week I experimented with the coconut milk chicken curry by just brushing the sauce onto the chicken before roasting, without marinading it first. Still good, but better when marinaded. I just wanted to see b/c I dislike extra "handle the raw chicken" steps.
Even if I start eating dairy again (doubtful, its really nice not taking those pills all the time), coconut milk is a lot more convenient for me to use in things like this than actual milk/cream, b/c its got a longer shelf life. So yay for weird diets in this case.
*Cataloged all the shinies I've made on my lunchbreaks at work for the last few weeks, they are ready for Wicked Faire :-D
*Started to finish the pile of polymer clay trinkets I made and glazed a couple weeks ago, but decided I just wasn't interested this time. They just didn't come out that nicely, probably due to my caffeine experiment that weekend. I have almost 200 of them in stock anyway, it'll be one less thing to worry about. So this could count as an unaccomplishment too, but I'm leaning towards "Made a decision not to stress myself out more for little benefit, after starting to complete the task."
*Set up my outfits in advance, but winter is making me kinda bored with this. Pants every day, meh. One year I'll remember to pick up some warm leggings so I can wear skirts when its not snowing or windy.
*Went to Costco for WF supplies, and did NOT overdo it. My fridge is not about to explode with too much foodz. May pick up my own membership in March rather than May, depending on how badly I frak my finances this month. I feel bad mooching off my friend's card all the time, tho he has an executive level membership, so he gets cash back. The extra freezer can wait until May, tho.
*Freaked out a bit about how I'm supposed to eat at Wicked Faire, but then made lists and calmed myself down. I'm going with the 'bring a big bag of groceries to horde in my room' option. And con is only 48 hours for goodness sake, get a grip Chrysilla. Will possibly cheat with french fries if I have time for hanging out in the bar with ppl. It may be the first time evar that I bring brownies to not share, but most of my friends can eat whatever they darn well please at con.
*Made an appointment for the sleep specialist on 2/28. But I may try to push that to next week, b/c I'm sick of being tired all the time. Have also put out feelers about who the gods/spirits of sleep are, and how I can make friends with them. B/c there are no gods of septums or snoring.
*I've been good for the last few weeks about not overspending on the 'extras' part of my budget. But WF is next weekend, so who knows. Setting up a budget isn't hard, remembering I have one while in Wicked sensory overload + sleep dep is more challenging.
*Remembered last week that Pandora is a thing. And have kept listening to it at work while doing lunchbreak or job-related crafty things. Mostly my Sisters of Mercy station.
Things I forgot/failed:
-Extra laundry
-*packing* for Wicked
-Make a GI appointment
-Writing
-Fancier 'statement' jewelry
-Photographing the seed bead pieces
-Forgot to to take my daytime vitamins Sat thru Mon, possibly resulting in lots of headaches on Sunday and Monday. Damn you, B12!!
Somehow I really ran out of steam after CostCo on Sunday, but I got the easier chores done and spaced out on the interwebs for a while.
I fought the yen to sew all weekend. I was going to give into it on Sunday but like I said, Chrysilla tired. Not sure if that's a win or a fail. I may get my new fabric on Wednesday. I'd like to get through more of the knit fabrics in my stash, so maybe after Wicked I'll make that new dress, and a couple more simple t-shirts with the knits. I found some stretchy silver-black material I was going to make pants out of (like, con pants, not work wear) a while ago, but I've come to the conclusion that I hate making pants. So now it's in purgatory. Maybe I just need a simpler, less fussy pants pattern.
Last week was still severely un-fun, but not in the random disaster way as seen in my weekly tarot forecast. More like a zillion random papercuts making me grumpy. Including hormones.
I'm just trying to keep my eyes up and focused on Wicked Faire, where I can be among my own people again, utterly surrounded and propped up by their cathartic weirdness.
I really hope fixing my sleeps breaks me out of this 'too tired to socialize' pattern. I need energy from *both* social time and alone time, just one side isn't working out.
