Yay, I think the grumpiness is starting to recede. Feeling a bit better emotionally since the heat index has gone down, tho other city folk are still complaining and being extra unpleasant.

But I've noticed it most in the more *privileged* persons, picking fights and being nasty with other people with little provocation. I guess they can't deal with the world and heat-index not revolving around them? Poor yuppies :-P One yuppie biatch lost a seat on the train when an old lady snagged it before she did, and the yuppie started to engage in 14 year old girl-bully tactics ... I guess just b/c she wanted to start something? The forced giggles of entitlement made me want to smack something, but her yuppie bf was a well muscled six foot something. The older lady seemed OK, old ladies in NYC can be pretty badass. I moved to the unfashionable part of Queens to get away from nasty people like this and... failed?

My feet hurt less too. I loosened the laces on my docs yesterday, it was cooler outside, and before bed I used a Lush foot lotion that I didn't realize had "soothing" properties listed. I forget its proper name, but its pink and mint scented, like a peppermint pig. Peppermint pig lotion!

Yesterday my patterns finally arrived at work. Yay! Now I can work on a knee-lenght-ish dress after the vest is finished. Might go fabric shopping for the less dressy vintage dress during one of the Mondays I have off. Tonight I'm going to try and make a pattern sloper for myself, to see if it helps me alter some of the patterns I have before I cut & sew them.

Still not sure how/if I want to adorn the vest I'm making. Typically, that would be done with fancy buttons, but I specifically opted for the version that didn't use buttons (I'm not ready to sew button holes yet). Maybe I'll just leave it plain and pretty until an idea presents itself.

Last night was also improv practice. Lots of members have stuff happening in August, and our teacher is being dragged away for two weeks, so we decided to go on hiatus until after LDW. I was hoping to see how I did having practice and a class in the same week later this month, but having fewer obligations this month *does* help with my self-imposed chilltheF$#%out ... diet? I'm on a going-out diet? Or something.

Still too tired to read books. Or just not interested in the books on my to-read shelf. Dangit. Don't really want to buy more books this month, will dig through the pile more closely. Books are historically my main jewelry inspiration, but I still feel like that ... receptor? USB port? Is still just burnt out. I haven't really felt inspired by the books I did read and enjoy recently. Maybe that will change.

As I look over a few weeks of 'not much going on' I'm wondering if I might pull out the beads before DragonCon instead of after. Except that goes against the chillingout, maybe. I have been thinking about how I'd like to approach jewelry in the future, and it's pretty much the same as I always have. Making what I want, how I want, when I want to. Not conforming to seasonal palettes the seasons of selling (Xmas, Halloween, etc). Items difficult to group by category, b/c I get bored repeating myself too much.

I also like to make every piece its own entity, so I might work harder on that in mixing materials and techniques. Might bring back the polymer clay 'pictureframes', tho smaller, and no longer making 10 at a time. Smaller items will happen via me practicing the techniques for 'big' things by making earrings and such. And the bigger items will be more high-end, without as much worry about their retail price. Which may make the NYWBS in October more interesting if I can get my act together by then.

At winter break I might start making 'trinkets' again for Wicked Faire, b/c after a clerical error I realized those *do* sell well at Wicked events. Ways to practice techniques or use up tailings and extra materials.

Not sure if I'll be making special jewelry for the Wicked Faire theme in February, b/c that never works out for me. But I guess leftover Halloween/autumn items would keep until it was actually autumn? Meh.
