One step forward, two steps back.

Things were going pretty well. Saturday I went out with the parents for mom's b'day, and Bareburger did well for them. I got home and did the cooking chores while catching up on some podcasts. Failed at lamb again, but now its just dry but still edible, and not the ridiculous sauce monstrosity I ended up with last time.
And I made more shiny things! Finished the second necklace from Thursday, and made two pairs of earrings, including one pair for me (to alleviate current necklace fears).
Then, my stomach decided to turn evil. Slept badly Saturday night, and Sunday things were just not right with teh tummy.
Not sure if it was something at Bareburger. My burger itself seemed fine, but I also shared the french fries platter with my parents. The fries themselves were fried in peanut oil, which I haven't noticed a reaction to before, but also haven't eaten in months due to paleo. Also, its possible that there was soy sauce in any of the dipping sauces, or maybe flour for thickening. However, gluten doesn't usually give me a stomach reaction. And I've had gluten free soy sauce within the last few weeks and not exploded.
Or it could just have been a virus. B/c duh, chill out teh me.
I've had stomach flus before where it too up to 2 weeks for me to feel hungry again, probably as a side effect of low grade nausea. This time tho, I seemed back to normal by Wednesday nite. So tentative yay. And I had to give up my two actual sick days. I still have 4 vacation days banked in case a SI shows up for allergy season, but now with the latest FMLA stupid (no change since last week) I don't know which claim to call in for that. So I'll just keep my fingers crossed against getting sick again. But if I recovered from a stomach flu in a matter of days, that's probably saying good things about my overall physical health. I hopes. Too bad my brains still haven't caught up, tho.
And I think I'm getting better at this self-care thing. I boiled some white rice and eggs (separately) and ate mostly that for a day and a half. Slowly tested how much meat and veg I could take. Got bored towards the end of day two and made banana pancakes. But mostly just lay out on the couch watching DVDs when I wasn't getting marathon sleeps. I was less hypervigilant too, that was a nice change.
Actually, the sleeps weren't working out so well. Saturday night I had trouble sleeping, and woke up sunday with my shoulder muscles all unhappy, so when my stomach felt unsettled at breakfast I just figured it was sleep dep, plus having a bit of lamb too close to bedtime to see if it was edible. But I don't think I had a good night's sleep again until Tuesday night. Not super queasy, just very agitated, lots of extra waking up and tossing and turning while trying to sleep for 10-11 hours. Not sure what caused what, but at least it all seems to be in remission.
Also, Tuesday night I finally unplugged the anti-mouse-noise device in the outlet next to my bed (there's still one in the kitchen, where the only known hole lives). The CF predates these devices in my life, but I can hear *some* annoying high pitched noises from it. If the supersonics aren't messing with my delta waves, its at the very least distracting. It also had a blinky blue light that was annoying, b/c sometimes my eye-mask just isn't comfortable to wear at night.
Am all caught up on The Borgias (just started) and Lost Girl (just ended). Borgias seemed kinda overly tense and paranoid, not as enjoyable as previous seasons, but its early yet. Was kinda disappointed by this season of LG. Or rather, what felt like a half season. But not like a season cut in half, more like they tried to condense 22 episodes into 13, so they left a lot of details out. Also finished Trial of a Timelord, and watched a lot of interviews in the box set, which didn't do much for my nerves sadly. They started out nice, but eventually it was all production people whining about the 80s era. And I finally finished S1 of Leverage, so may pick up S2 for my b'day next month.
Being sick messed up some of my finances (missed an appointment I couldn't reschedule, so I have to pay full price instead of the copay :-P), so its already a good thing that I wasn't planning to go shoe shopping until next month. My FMG order was already waiting for me when I got to work on Wednesday, so I have that to play with for a few weeks before maybe ordering more stuff, if it works out with these new materials.
I think I'm doing OK being more stingy about groceries. I've made enough dry lamb for two weeks of lunches, so that's one less chore this weekend. Tho hopefully by next week I'll be able to stomach mustard to make the lamb a bit more interesting.
The idea to put all *known* upcoming medical costs on the spreadsheet at the *beginning* of the month was a very VERY good idea in helping me understand how much $$ I actually had leftover after necessary expenses. I've had to tweak a few numbers as the appointments actually happened (or didn't, in one case), but this would explain how I successfully stick to my 'extras' budget and still end up over spending each month.
I've now gone three weeks without doing laundry, was too tired last weekend due to stomach ick. Which means a) really have to work on that this weekend, and b) I reeeeally don't need any new clothes for a while. Which makes the boot shopping look like less of a worry.
Would like to do some jewelry photos this weekend, but with the laundry rack up (and there will probably be wet laundry hanging up in every possible corner of the chantry as well) there probably won't be room. And I'd rather do lots of chores on Saturday and slack off Sunday.
Or I could continue *making* more shiny stuff, and try photographing it next weekend. I finally have the extra bits I need to make new pieces out of my old Trinkets stash, and more earring hooks (tho next time I'll order more than 5 pairs). They're less likely to earn me $$ while not photographed and online, but I'm just glad to be making things again.
Tho thanx to this week's overt illness, I may just need the weekend for more sleeps. Ugh, just when I was getting a handle on things again, can't win :-/
